Micropuncture

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

Considered one of the best and most innovative techniques for stimulating collagen, micropuncture is a minimally invasive therapy that significantly enhances the transdermal delivery of active ingredients through micro-needles. Discover all that micropuncture can do for your medical practice.

Micropuncture originated in 1995 when Orentreich developed the concept of “subcision,” or dermal puncture with a needle to release the dermis and aid in reconstructing the connective tissue beneath scars or wrinkles. Since then, this technique has been continuously improved, and thanks to constant technological innovations, it is now a minimally invasive technique with relatively low costs, used for the treatment of various skin conditions, both aesthetic and dermatological.

The foundation of micropuncture lies in penetrating the skin with small needles, creating controlled “micro-wounds” or “micro channels” that activate the skin’s natural repair mechanisms. The mechanisms through which collagen production and tissue regeneration are achieved include:

Enhancing cellular communication (cross-talk)

Generate growth factors
Stimulating angiogenesis (blood vessels)

Increase absorption of active ingredients

ENHANCING CELLULAR COMMUNICATION (CROSS-TALK)

Improves communication between epidermal and dermal cells, facilitating intercellular signaling between keratinocytes, melanocytes, and fibroblasts, optimizing their functions and strengthening the dermoepidermal junction.

GENERATING GROWTH FACTORS

The production of micro-lesions in the skin generates controlled inflammation, increasing the synthesis of growth factors.

STIMULATING ANGIOGENESIS (BLOOD VESSELS)

Micropuncture stimulates angiogenesis, the generation of new blood vessels, producing VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) and increasing nutrient supply in the vascularized area.

INCREASING THE ABSORPTION OF ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Micro-channels in the skin facilitate transepidermal absorption of active
ingredients applied to the skin. The micro channels close after 10 minutes.

BENEFITS OF MICROPUNCTURE IN DERMATOLOGY

  • Effective Treatment: Micropuncture stands out as a highly effective, safe, and well-tolerated method for treating various skin pathologies.
  • Minimal Impact on the Skin: Compared to other treatments, micropuncture has a low incidence of unwanted effects, such as postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
  • educed Risk of PIH: Studies have shown that micropuncture can decrease the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation by influencing the gene expression of melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH).
  • Faster Recovery: After micropuncture, the average duration of erythema (redness) is significantly shorter than after laser treatment, reducing recovery time. Patients can resume normal life after the treatment.
  • Benefits in Scar Treatment: Both old and recent scars (provided they are fully closed and at least 30 days have passed since the wound) can benefit from micropuncture.
  • Benefits in Alopecia Treatment: Micropuncture has demonstrated benefits in alopecia by activating hair follicle stem cells and stimulating hair growth.
  • Therapeutic Versatility: This technique is effective not only on its own but can also be combined with various therapies to enhance results and adapt to different treatment needs
